What can go up a chimney down but not down a chimney up?
This is one of my favorite riddles because people first start to think really literally about what a chimney is for:
- smoke
- fire
- ash
Then they fall back on kids’ tales:
- Santa
- reindeer?
Now think about anything other than a chimney. What wouldn’t seem to fit but actually does? Is it breathing? Does it slink? Where is it from, this world or another? If from another realm, what do they have chimneys for? Do they have them at all?
Create a poem, a place, an entity. And if you want to know the answer to the riddle, think about things that have up and down positions. Comments are always welcome.
