National Poetry Month: A Look At Speculative Poetry Books (2012-2016)

As we continue our celebrations of National Poetry Month in the United States, this seems like a good time to look back at some of the full-length collections of speculative poetry books that have been written in the last few years since the beginning of the Elgin Awards organized by the international Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association! This year’s nominations close on May 15th, so if you’re a member, be sure to get your choices in to our chair, Josh Brown, as soon as possible.

With over 80 full-length books that were nominated between 2012-2016, it’s clear that there is indeed a space for diverse voices engaged with poetry of the imagination, working along many points of the continuum to examine the issues of fantasy, horror, science fiction, and even more experimental approaches.

If you’re looking for a place to start building your library, you might do well to start with some of these! What are some of your favorite books we missed from these years?
